How it works
PRO delivers Celluma's three fixed wavelengths, blue at 465 nm, red at 640 nm and near-infrared at 880 nm, through a patented flexible panel that takes the shape of the area it treats.
For red and near-infrared light, Celluma describes photons at these wavelengths as absorbed by photoacceptors in the mitochondria of treated cells, with the resulting rise in ATP powering cell repair, proliferation and a return to homeostasis. For the anti-aging effect, the manufacturer proposes that red light raises fibroblast proliferation, and fibroblasts are the cells that make collagen fibers. Celluma also names dose as a balance: too much power at close range can harm the skin, and too little power or too much distance makes a session ineffective.

Is PRO battery-powered, and how long does a charge last?
Yes. The second generation of Celluma PRO is battery-powered and should be used shortly after charging: it provides 3 to 4 thirty-minute treatments on a full charge, and needs charging again if it sits unused for more than a couple of days.
Why doesn't PRO come with a stand?
Because the stand is already built into the panel: PRO is designed to be shaped around the face or body on its own. For professional use in the S shape, over the face, neck and decollete, Celluma sells a single stand that fits behind the head.
Can PRO's anti-aging mode be used for hair regrowth?
No. Celluma states that large devices, PRO included, are not designed to be used over the scalp.
Is LED light therapy safe?
Celluma describes LED light therapy as safe and non-invasive for all skin types and ages, since it does not use UV rays and carries no risk of burning or skin damage.
Who should not use PRO?
Celluma lists six situations: do not use over the breast or stomach of a breast-feeding or pregnant person, do not use on infants or children, do not use if the patient or administrator has epilepsy or a history of seizures, avoid use when the patient is taking cortisone or other steroid injections, avoid use with photosensitizing drugs, and do not perform LED therapy over a known cancer tumor or metastasis.
