How it works
ZStim delivers electrotherapy through direct skin contact. The current introduced into the cell triggers an action potential, which depolarises the cell and produces the muscle contraction. Up to 16 electrodes can be operated simultaneously, so several muscle groups are treated at once, through the unit's 15 pre-defined protocols.

Electrotherapy for body contouring
ZStim works by electrotherapy, one of the four mechanisms Zimmer offers for body contouring: ZShape works by radiofrequency, ZWave Pro by shockwave and ZTone by inductive therapy.
Two variants
Zimmer records ZStim as available in a Medical and a Non-Medical variant.
Multi-zone, mostly unsupervised
Zimmer lists several regions treated at once, a compact design, mainly unsupervised treatment and an intuitive, electrode-guided interface as ZStim's benefits for the practice. An expert mode adds per-channel control for more precise work.
Patient controls the intensity

Zimmer publishes both variants but does not publish what separates them. Ask us which one fits your scope of practice.
Is ZStim the same as ZTone?
No. ZTone works by electromagnetic muscle stimulation and carries the pelvic floor upgrade path. ZStim works by electrotherapy and carries no such path.
Is there published documentation on ZStim?
Zimmer publishes no clinical study for ZStim. Its own before and after documentation for the device cites an internal study of 10 sessions, and that is the only outcome reference on file.
How long does a session take, and how many are needed?
The therapy lasts a maximum of 30 minutes. Depending on the patient, Zimmer recommends between 6 and 10 treatments to achieve the desired result.
